The gas-related activities operating in China are managed through Norgas Carriers, AS (Norgas), an integrated marine transportation company wholly owned by I.M. Skaugen.

Our expertise, gained from years of experience in related marine transportation projects range from domestic gas and chemical transportation, seafarer training & recruitment, ship supply procurement to ship management.

IM Skaugen has been engaged in shipbuilding projects in China since the late 1990s and completed various newbuilding projects for IMS including 1 river LPG carrier, 4 river LPG barges and 2 tugs for TNGC in 1998 and 2000. Six (6) state-of-art gas carriers, 2 of which are in the 10,200 cbm class and 4 in 8,500 cbm class.

In 2006, Skaugen Marine Construction (SMC) was established to manage the Newbuilding Programs for IMS in China. SMC is responsible for all activities pertaining to new a building programme, including management of its joint ventures, construction management that encompasses design, engineering, supervision, procurement, cost and quality control.
